A World of Equilibrium

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

Equilibrium Games are Mexico-based game developers who are merging blockchain with gaming and are currently developing two games that will run on the XRP Ledger. Equilibrium uses Unreal Engine to build games and plan to create their own style which will be a mix of DayZ, Rust, and World of Warcraft. All games will be free to play.

What Is EQ

EQ is the currency that will be used in Equilibrium games, all in-game purchases will require EQ which can be bought from a crypto exchange and sent to a player’s game wallet. However, players can also earn EQ in-game by trading and selling items, setting up marketplaces, leasing out land and buildings to other players, and by just playing the game. The play-to-earn model of Equilibrium Games rewards players for every kill, quest, or event completed. No EQ is required to play the game and earned EQ can be withdrawn to an external wallet or sold on an exchange.

Of the 100 million total supply, Equilibrium Games plan to give away 80% to the community via airdrops and 20% will be reserved for in-game earnings. The games marketplace will have an invisible tax system that will return funds to the earnings pot.

Equilibrium Games have created EQ to be used in their own games but also the games of partner projects who wish to use the EQ marketplace for selling NFTs or use EQ themselves as in-game currency.

Official Partners

The HappyCats (expected release - Unknown)

HappyCats are bringing their collection of over 10,000 unique HappyCat NFTs to the EQ marketplace. HappyCats also have an open world game named 'Battle for Kythera' in production, which will use EQ as in game currency plus cosmetic items available to buy from the EQ marketplace.

Hodlmon (expected release Q1-Q2 2022)

Equilibrium has partnered with Double Infinity who are the developers of Hodlmon, a Pokemon-style turn-based MMO that will use EQ as its in-game currency. Players will be able to trade, swap and sell Hodlmon on the EQ marketplace.

Games in development

Blights Wrath (expected release Q3-Q4 2022)

Not much is currently known about this project other than it is a Souls style single player RPG. Blights Wrath is still a work in progress, however early gameplay footage looks very promising.

World of Equilibrium (expected release 2022 - 2024)

World of Equilibrium is a multiplayer hardcore MMO with a prestige system and a player-driven economy.

Hardcore MMO means if the character dies in battle if by a monster or by another player's hand the character is deleted. The player will have to create a new character and start their journey anew.

On character death the player losses everything the character had in exemption to Equilibrium (EQ), NFT's like cosmetic items, and ownership of lands and buildings.

A hardcore playstyle emphasizes the social aspects of an MMO-RPG, players will have to find groups or players they trust in the hopes they will not get betrayed.

Prestige System is a bonus system that gives the Player permanent bonuses. When a player dies he earns prestige points which can be redeemed for extra status bonuses like extra health, attack damage etc.

NFTs

Cosmetic items will be tradable as NFTs on the EQ marketplace and will be usable across all Equilibrium games, when cosmetic items are bought the NFT creator receives a fee for each sale.

Ownership of buildings, land, and terrain can also be freely traded on the EQ marketplace.

Gaming Coins Comparison

(Data accurate on 03 Dec 2021)

Decentraland

MANA Market Cap - $7.95 billion

Axie Infinity

AXS Market Cap - $8.1 billion

Gala Games

Gala Market Cap - $4 billion

Equilibrium Games

EQ Market Cap - $26 million

With the gaming industry set to hit $200 billion by the end of the year, the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies, and the recent boom in Metaverse projects, EQ finds itself in the right place at the right time. With coins like MANA, GALA, and AXS exploding in value over the last few weeks it is an exciting time to invest in gaming/metaverse projects.

EQ currently has a market cap of $26 million which is nothing compared to the likes of AXS and MANA who both have a market cap of around $8 billion. Equilibrium Games and its partners have two games due for release over the next 12 months which may be the catalyst for some positive price action.

Will EQ reach the heights of MANA and AXS? Only time will tell. One thing is for sure though, Equilibrium Games have created a legit use case for EQ within their own ecosystem of games and by partnering with other developers there's no limit to how big EQ can become.
